Low-Income Seat Program

Low-Income Seat Program

The Vermont Low-Income Car Seat, Program, has several options.

  1. WIC Voucher, The Child Passenger Safety Program provides education and instruction to WIC Recipients on child safety seat use and installation at Car Seat Assistance Stations and hospitals statewide. The program allows for distribution of FREE car seats and booster seats to WIC recipients after completing their child passenger safety seat inspection appointment. Please note, having a WIC voucher does not mean you will automatically receive a FREE car seat or booster. The Child Passenger Safety Technician will determine if your child is in need of a low-income program seat.

  2. Other low-income Vermonters, not receiving WIC, may also be eligible. Families receiving, Reach Up assistance, Dr. Dynasaur and Foster Children may be eligible if in need. All participants will receive education and instruction on child safety seat use, installation and harnessing as well as the proper use of a booster seat and guidance on when to transition to a safety belt when needed. The Child Passenger Safety Technician at your local Car Seat Assistance Station will determine if your child is in need of a low-income program seat.

If you think you are eligible for the low-income program please make an appointment at your nearest Car Seat Assistance Station and meet with a Nationally Certified, Child Passenger Safety Technician.
